Cheapest Cars To Insure – 2009

What Cars are Cheaper to Insure in 2009?

greencarWe published a very popular article sometime back, entitled cheapest cars to insure. We understand that the market changes. Isurers chage, and car producers have certainly gone through some changes in the past year. So we do not feel like we are repeating ourselves if we produce an update.

What Makes a Vehicle Cheaper to Insure?

Keep in mind that the cost of insurance is calculated with many complex variables. And your own cost will be affected by your zip code, age, driving history, etc. But just like an insurer sets your premium by personal risk factors, they also look at the vehicle make.

A vehicle may cost less because it has demonstrated it has been constructed with safety in mind, is less expensive to repair, or even because the “type” of driver who buys this make of car tends to be involved in less claims. For instance, insurers were giving hybrid cars a break because they found that the socially conscous buyers who wanted green cars  just tended to be a low risk group!

Here’s the List of the 2009 Vehicles that isurers favor. They are not all exactly cars, but some are SUVs from Jeep! Note that these are 2008 models which would have been purchased in 2009, probably as new cars.
