Control The Cost of Car Insurance

Do you need help controlling the cost of auto insurance?

Right now, when many people cannot predict their incomes and are losing jobs, it isĀ  important to slash those monthly bills. However, we certainly do not want to advise anybody to cut bills at the cost of losing valuable coverage! This is no time to be left without transportation if you do need to make a car insurance claim to repair your car. So be very wary of any really cheap car insurance deals because they may be cutting out certain coverage to lower their rates.

Look At Your Deductible

The difference in premium between a $250 deductible and a $1000 deductible is substantial. If you are disciplined enough to save that premium difference in case you do need to come up with out of pocket repairs, you will probably come out ahead. However, if you cannot afford to pay that $750 difference if you do have an accident, you should probably stay with the lower car insurance deductible amount.

Shop Around For Car Insurance Rates

Do shop around, but keep in mind my previous warning. It is very possible to find auto insurance discounts that can lower your premium with another company. Just make sure you are exchanging apples and apples, and do not get lower rates because you gave up important coverage.

Be Wary Of Really Cheap Car Insurance

Some agents may talk you into dropping collision coverage on an older car, but that may not be a good idea. If you do have an accident, can you afford to replace that car. Please take that into consideration before you decide to save a few dollars a month.
