Are so-called Discount Car Insurance Companies Really the Best Deal?
It is easy to get the impression that some insurers, who are constantly on tv and the internet, are the discount car insurance companies. But will these insurers really give you the best car insurance deal? A lot of people seem to think that is true, but it isn’t always what we find.
I am not naming names for one very basic reason. Without geting comparisons from the insurer it is impossible to know which company will work out best for you, and for your family. The type of car you drive, family situation, etc. could make your answer very different from mine. But again, that’s why you should compare and not be satisfied with paying sky-high premiums unless you have assured yourself you cannot get any better offers.
The Discount Insurer Cost More? Why?
Well, I have a personal experience of trying to cover my teenage son and myself. When I purchased a second (used) vehicle for our use, my discount auto insurance rates tripled! This company, always advertised on tv as the affordable insurer, would not offer any discounts for combining my home insurance, or for the accredited drivng course or good grades of my son. This company may be cheap for some, but is not cheap for younger drivers.
A competitor, not known as a cheaper auto insurer, could combine my home and auto insurance, allow for discounts, and give me a rate that ended up being $200 a month cheaper! That two hundred dollars a month works out to $2,400 a year! For me, that was worth the trouble of switching companies.
<h3>Where Can You Find Cheaper Auto Coverage?</h3>
As you know, your rates will depend upon many things. It is impossible for me to tell you who is cheaper just like it is impossible for one insurer to proclaim that they are the cheapest. Your age, driving history, type of car you drive, how you drive, allowed discounts, and your address are some important factors. To find out which company will be friendliest to a driver like you, you need to run comparisons.
