Do Not Throw Car Insurance Under The Bus!

Alarming Numbers of People Are Dropping Their Car Insurance

You must know that you almost certainly need car insurance to be a legal, US driver. All 50 states in the US require a proof of financial responsibility in order for you to operate your car. For most of us, that proof comes in the form of an insurance card showing that we have taken our the required minimum amounts of auto insurance.

However, in a troubled financial climate, a lot of US drivers are letting their car insurance lapse. They know that the are breaking the law, but just hoping they won’t have an accident or traffic ticket so they don’t get caught. This is a huge risk. Even a minor accident can cost thousands of dollars worth of damage to your car, or another vehicle. A major accident, with personal injury, can ruin you. In addition, you are breaking the law, and can bring in legal problems along with financial ones!

Here’s What Fox News Says:

In fact… the Insurance Research Council, a non profit organization, says the economic crisis is likely to lead to a new spike in uninsured motorists. Its research shows for every 1% the unemployment rate goes up, the uninsured motorist rate goes up nearly as much–3/4 of a percent. The IRC predicts by the year 2010… more than 16% of all drivers on U.S. roads will not be covered.

You Need Auto Insurance To Drive Responsibly and Legally

Furthermore, if another person does hold you liable for major damage, a covered person will have an insurance company on their side to bring in legal help to minimize issues. A non-covered person would be soley responsible for finding their own legal representation.  Just because the other driver’s uninsured motorist clause covers him for damages, does not mean his insurance company will not come after you for the money! They can, and they will.

Find Cheaper Auto Insurance

If your current policy costs too much, find affordable alternatives for the legal required insurance. Many insurers are willing to put clients on a monthly payment plan so they can afford to keep coverage.
